Locking the go button
Is it possible to lock the go button until a set number of cues have been completed?
e.g.: To prevent a inexperienced operator overriding a auto fade cue and starting the next manual cue too early

Re: Locking the go button
Have look in the Help file for "Exclusive Cue". Any cue that should not be overridden can be made exclusive (via the tickbox in the cue properties panel), disabling the Go button until it completes.

Re: Locking the go button
Having posted this I decided to read the instructions again suspecting I had missed something.
The exclusive option looks like it will do what I'm looking for.
With this enabled I'm still able to override the cue with the next manual cue.
What am I missing please.

Thanks for the reply, have you got this to work?

I use Exclusive Cue all the time. Once you click on the Exclusive Cue box in the Editor window you should not be able to override the playing of that cue with the next manual cue. To see that you have the Exclusive Cue option enabled, an asterix * appears next to the Cue Type in the Cue Type column of the playback window.
Re: Locking the go button
Yes I have. Although I don't usually use exclusive cues, as a trial I have modified an existing show file. I inserted an SFR cue Q3.1 after an audio file Q3 which has a 2 minute running time. I set Q3.1 to autostart 30 secs after the start of Q3, with a forced fade time of 10 seconds. This works as expected. I then made Q3.1 exclusive and ran Q3. If I click Go (space bar, right click, button at top of page) whilst Q3 is running but before Q3.1 has started, Q4 runs. If I wait until Q3.1 is running before Go, then SCS blocks it and reports the exclusive cue. If I make Q3 exclusive as well, then Go is disabled at whatever stage you click. Likewise the same effect is achieved if only Q3 is exclusive, as until Q3.1 completes Q3 is still running.davidcoliver wrote:Malcolm

Note that if you are testing this by editing a particular cue, you should step back up the cue stack at least a couple of cues, e.g. to Q2 or Q1, to reset the cue attributes.
Note also that exclusivity doesn't work properly if you use the Play button transport control on the individual cue panel, instead of the general Go button. If you try the Play button of the immediately following cue (Q4) it will be blocked, but activating Q5 and subsequent cues will not be blocked.
I hope that covers all possible reasons for not working!

It doesn't work for me, having made every cue exclusive I can still advance through the cue list .
As you can get it to work I must be doing something wrong

Re: Locking the go button
David,
The exclusive cue property is designed to prevent the operator starting an audio or video cue while an 'exclusive cue' is playing. It does not block SFR cues etc. To work out why it's not working for you I need initially for you to email me a diagnostic file. You can create this file by starting SCS and selecting 'Create Diagnostic File' from the drop-down menu displayed when you click the Help button in the main window. The file will be saved in a folder named "SCS Diagnostics" under "Documents" or "My Documents". (If you're using a version of SCS 11 prior to 11.3 then the diagnostic file will be saved in a folder named "SCS Dumps".)
btw, Malcolm pointed out a couple of weaknesses in the coding which I need to look into, but these should not affect the normal running of your cues.

Re: Locking the go button
Mike thanks
I can get it to work just using sound files.
My idea is to be able to lock the go button while a set of auto cues are running.
Maybe this should come under future requests?
Thanks again for a brilliant programme
