Surface Pro 2/3?

Post by Mike Daniell » Tue Dec 09, 2014 11:18 am

I've had a couple of emails recently from users who cannot run SCS on their Surface Pro 2 or other Windows 8.1 machine. Before I spend $1500+ on a new Surface Pro 3, if you already have a Windows 8.1 machine could you reply to this posting or email me directly and let me know how you get on with running SCS on the machine? Please advise what computer you have - eg Surface Pro 2, etc.

I run SCS 11.3.5.1 on a cheap Lenovo laptop running Windows 8.1 without incident. In fact I've been using SCS on that laptop for 18 months without incident. I'll update the SCS version and put any Win 8.1 updates on there and see if I have any problems at all.

FYI, there is a massive Win 8.1 update that came out in November. Here is what is covered - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3000850

I'm going to install it and then update SCS and see if there are any issues.

I've installed the Windows Update for 8.1. Using SCS 11.3.5.2 I can report that there is an issue with Fade Out cues for Playlists. The SFR cue hangs up while the lower cue window refreshes before the SFR cue is complete. Once the refresh is complete the fade in the SFR cue jumps in time to where it should be and finishes, thus causing a sharp drop in volume rather than a smooth fade. This is with a cue list I've been using for weeks.
SFR cue fades for single audio cues do not appear affected. I've attempted to attach the diagnostic file but it won't allow me to attach it to this post because of the .scsz extension. I'm emailing it to you.

I've installed SCS 11.3.6 and the problem appears to be corrected. I have no problem using SCS 11.3.6 with Win 8.1.
