Hi - need a bit of help here.
I use SCS 11 to drive the sound and lights for our show. I use audio files for the sound and midi files to drive the lights (using Freestyler).
My problem is that if I use a loop on an audio file (eg to have a vamp intro to a song over which we say nice things to the audience) and release the loop after an indeterminate number of cycles then how do I synchronise the playing of the ligthing midi file (which can't have loops)?
I thought of breaking the midi file into two parts - one for the intro plus loop and one for the remainder of the song but how can I get the second part to start synchronised with the exit from the loop (ie not when I hit the cue for Release but when it actually exits the loop)?? And how do I get the first file to stop playing??
All ideas from you geniuses out there very welcome . . .
Thanks
Richard

Re: Audio loops and synchronised midi file cues
A suggestion: split the MIDI file in two as you suggest, with the second MIDI file in a separate cue. So the first cue would contain your audio file (with loop) and your first MIDI file. The second cue would contain your second MIDI file and an SFR sub-cue to stop the sub-cue of the first MIDI cue. This second cue should be set to auto-start n.nnn seconds before the end of the first cue, where n.nnn is the remaining duration of the audio file after the end of the loop.
Make sense? Will that achieve what you want?

Re: Audio loops and synchronised midi file cues
Yep - came to the same conclusion. It leaves a short piece of music without lighting control (the end of the last loop cycle after the Release Loop/Stop Midi file action up until the 2nd midi file takes over) but I can live with that, especially if I time the Release action well. Due to some problems with SCS11 (see my other post in the bug forum) I am back with SCS10 (which doesn't have Stop on sub-cues) but I have done something similar with a separate cue to run the first midi file which is set to auto-start with the audio file cue. Phew that is complicated to write . . .
Thanks for your help though
