I was wondering if there is a keyboard shortcut that enables you to stop the current cue that's playing, or if it is configurable in the key mapping section? Obviously you can select 'stop' with the mouse, but this could be tricky to do quickly in the heat of the moment under show conditions.
The reason I ask is that we had a minor issue in a recent production - the sound op started a cue early while a looped section was running (my fault, as I should have made the next cue an exclusive one). He quite rightly panicked, so hit the panic stop all Escape key. When he resumed I understand SCS went back to the loop section which was no longer needed and it meant he struggled to get things back on track.
It would be great if there was a key shortcut that stopped the current cue, and re-cued ready to go again. Is there such a thing? Is it possible?

Re: Stop current cue button
How about making an 'SFR' cue 'Stop all playing cues' and put it on a Hot Key

Re: Stop current cue button
Would that not just be the same as pressing Escape? I can't try it out at the moment or I would know for sure.
Re: Stop current cue button
No - Escape resets to the first cue playing at the time you hit Escape. This is why your looping cue became the active cue when the GO button was pressed.
SFR 'Stop All Playing Cues' jumps to the next cue in the cue list after the playing cues and awaits a command. If this is not the cue you want, then the cursor keys can be used to step up and down.
When restarting after a stop, it is advisable to look at the screen to see what is the next cue before hitting GO.

Thanks for this information. I'm a puppeteer and I sometimes work on my own in a 3'x3' booth (dark). I have the soundscapes designed but I am often ready to proceed before the end of the current cue. Now I can hot-key to my next cue without waiting.
One question....the input screen for the sub-cue offers me the choice of FADE and go to next cue. I have that chosen but it there's no place to input the length of fade, and indeed the target cue seems not to fade at all, it just stops, and goes to the next cue. However, a minor issue for me but if someone knows....

No need for a sub cue. Just make it a regular SFR cue. The default for a newly created SFR cue is STOP, but you can choose to FADE instead from the drop-down menu on the right-hand side of the Editor window screen. The Overriding FADE time can be input in a small window near the bottom of the Editor screen.puppeteer wrote:Thanks for this information. The lower panel of a regular SFR cue is still described as Sub Cue Properties. The overriding fade time supersedes the fade out time (if any) set in the Audio File Properties in the particular running cue. If no fade out time is set, it would otherwise stop immediately.
You can also use the same SFR cue to start the next cue by checking "'Go' Next Manual Cue'. You need to set the Time Delay greater than the Fade Time, unless you want to cross-fade into the next cue.
