Functionality question

Post by Eric Snodgrass » Sat Jan 07, 2012 11:17 am

Is there any way to pause a Fade cue? Say I'm playing a playlist. There is a fade cue for the playlist, and the cue is executed, but not at the correct moment and the music needs to come back up. Any way to pause or stop a fade from happening while allowing the playlist cue to continue playing?

Unfotunately it's not possible to cancel a fade cue once it has started. I presume this would be to 'undo' a mistake. Interesting thought! :|

I ask this because I've run into this problem a few times at one-off events, where there is no rehearsal and a performer or presenter requests a fade at a certain time. Usually on these gigs I'm using Software Audio Console, which is a virtual live console in a computer, so there are no physical faders - I'm only dealing with virtual faders controlled by a mouse. In these cases it is easy for me to simply write a fade cue in SCS and take it when requested, but there are times when the cue is called but is then almost immediately requested to cancel (because of various circumstances). The fade cannot be stopped or reversed and the affected cue cannot be continued, unfortunately.
A physical fader fixes this problem, and honestly it is the only advantage of the physical fader.
