Video issue. (Setvideotarget)

Post by Weycoll » Sat Jun 04, 2011 12:49 am

Hello

have a little trouble playing videos. The problem does not happen all the time. So far may be once or twice a show......but some times not at all ...which is highly frustrating...

When it happens it is as a video cue is loading. and it is a different video cue each time. (all videos are WMV).

I am using 10.7.5 at present. And am reluctant to upgrade at this point as we have another week of shows.

As the video cue loads i get a error message and the usual windows "ping" which plays over the system....not ideal...

The message reads..."setvideotarget[51]nNewVideoTarget=F,nVideoTarget=none,NOldVideoTarget=F)

As i mentioned this is not happening every time and its not always on the same cue. It happened twice in last nights show and i have just ran the show 4 times cue to cue and the problem did not appear until the 4th run.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

First of all, you can get rid of the "ping" by turning off Windows sounds - it is always best to have these turned off for any show you run, with or without videos. Go to the WIndows Control Panel, select Sound, and then change the Sound Scheme to 'No Sounds'. The process may be slightly different on your computer as it depends on which version of Windows you are running.

Regarding the setVideoTarget error, did you use the SCS Editor during the production? Or did you jump around the cue list at all? I'll look more closely into a possible cause, but these are just some first thoughts, especially regarding the Editor. Preferably stay out of the Editor during a live run.

Thanks

Yeah we did disable the ping in the end. We didnt use the editor but there may have been some jumping around before the show started. So i take it it is best to just load the show and run in order with out jumping about at all to test cues. And if any jumping around is required pre show its best to shut SCS down and reload it before the show begins?

Many thannks

I would tend to agree with your last statement about not jumping around. What i do if I really want to test something is to set up test cues. If the show runs well in rehearsal with the test cues then it should during an actual show. This would allow you to see that it is all working without having to "jump around."
