I'm designing a show using SCS 10.7.5 on a computer running an Echo AudioFirePre8 sound card. We are using only the first 4 analog outputs. In Production Properties the listed Physical device is AudioFirePre8 Analog 1-8. The speakers/output choices are the usual list, with stereo pairs, mono outputs and surround outputs listed. The AudioFire is sending to the outputs just fine, but unfortunately SCS is only allowing a stereo pair or mono output, meaning I can set the speaker outputs to either the 1/2 stereo pair, the 3/4 stereo pair or any mono output of 1 through 4 and all outputs will work. But the program will not allow another output device to be listed. Under Device Names Used in Cues, only the first one is able to be used - 2 through 8 are greyed out and cannot be used.
I can set the first Device Names Used in Cues just fine.
Any idea why this is happening? I need to be able to send cues to separate outputs. The AudioFire mixing software has all outputs unmuted. There are no special routing matrices within the Echo software.

I recall seeing this problem before but I haven't identified the cause. If you close and restart SCS are the extra devices enabled in the Cue Properties? What is the license type displayed under Help / About?Eric Snodgrass wrote:Under Device Names Used in Cues, only the first one is able to be used - 2 through 8 are greyed out and cannot be used.

Re: Issue with Echo AudioFire Pre8 Outputs
I'm in the 'States, so because of the time difference I haven't been able to close and restart SCS yet. It was late last night, near the end of rehearsal, that I discovered the problem when I was loading cues. I'll see later today if a restart of SCS has fixed this problem.Mike Daniell wrote:I recall seeing this problem before but I haven't identified the cause. The license is SCS Professional, so there should be enough outputs available.

A quick follow-up
Yes, Mike, as you surmised, a computer restart fixed the problem. I was able to choose multiple devices and use multiple outputs.
One odd thing did occur, however. I couldn't pan left or right. On stereo waveforms the pan slider worked physically but the resulting output didn't follow. The outputs chosen were listed as Outputs 1, 2 (stereo). Not a dealbreaker. The design survived. I blame the AudioFire driver.

You might find this thread helpful.
To quote Mike from the last post:
"To fix the problem, go to General Options / Permanent Options / Audio Driver and clear the checkbox 'Force enabling of speaker assignments'. Then click OK and close and restart SCS. You should now find the pan works OK."
