Files that do not play properly

Post by Rick Malone » Fri Oct 29, 2010 3:06 pm

Have been using SCS for about 6 years. NEVER had a problem. For a production of Blithe Spirit, I have several clock striking cues. About 50% of the time they do not play properly...partial play and stop.
I have opened the files in Sound Forge, checked them...all is ok...saved them with new names...The still 'misbehave". I moved the offending cues to the main drive from the "audio file" drive. Worked for one weekend and tonight they "misbehaved" and SCS crashed near the end of the show.

System: Mac Mini (1.83ghz) in Bootcamp running Win XP, SP2. 2 GB memory. Audio device is Presonus Firepod with latest drivers and the internal sound card. Total of 10 outputs. Most of the audio is on an external HD, but I moved the clock strikes to the internal drive after the problems and initially they seemed to work fine. All the other 50+ cues work flawlessly. I'm stumped. Using 10.7.4.

Thanks

Rick,

Please email me your cue file (the .scs file) and tell me which cues are not playing properly. Also please advise what settings you have under General Options / Permanent Options / Audio Driver.

Hi Mike,

I'll do that later today when I go to the theatre. I also need to check the connections to that speaker. It could be the culprit.

Thanks

I believe I have traced the problem to a poor connection at the speaker. We'll see what happens tonight. Since the show is Blithe Spirit the director and crew are blaming a poltergeist. <<grin>
Thanks.
