Before I always used the dante virtual sound card in WDM mode.
In this way I was able to rout the audio from the video to the same output as the audio tracks.
This show I also use 5.1 positioning audio under the video, and instead of trying to hardcode it in a 5.1 track for in the video file (don't know if that would even work)
I decided to keep the tracks separate so things can easy been adjusted and balanced in the file, instead of having to remux it under a video file.
When running the somewhat complex audio file with just the speech from the video track in WDM gave me a weird time sync issue that I was not able to resolve.
Every 10 seconds the video would stutter badly for a moment, but only on the second screen. Not on my own preview.
Tried to ajust every buffer and setting but was not able to resolve it. (when checking it would also visibly heavy spike in CPU utilization)
I have used this Dell XPS 15 laptop for more that a year for a lot of shows but never had this issue. (think its maybe due to the complexity and size of the IO's)
Switching to asio and using only audio files solved the issue but gave me the av synch issue in return.
But Asio is not shown in the video output of course, I could create a virtual audio routing loop but this is also not something that will help keeping things synced.
I also really like the flexibility of the audio routing instead of the somewhat limited video audio routing.
Anyway today my new show machine hardware is being delivered, after that's build i will reevaluate and see if the WDM gives me the same stutter problems.
But any words of wisdom are always appreciated.
