Behringer X32 Driver Problems

Post by guttersen » Sun Oct 14, 2018 12:29 pm

We have been using SCS and a Behringer X32 board for a few years now. The computer autoupgraded to Windows 10 last year and we started having issues with the USB driver failing multiple times a day. We moved to a new PC and still have the same issues. We have to run analog to keep the audio stable. We have made every change to the environment that we have been able to find in either SCS or X32 forums. We have removed everything we could think of from the PC OS. We have upgraded the board firmware, the USB drivers, the X32 USB Audio driver & SCS to the latest versions. We may go through a 2 hour performance with no issues and then the next night have the driver drop 6 times in the same show. At this point I am open for all suggestions.

At first, it is not a good idea to allow automatic updates on a audio computer.
If all run fine on Win7, why not do a format c: and return to this system?

AutoUpdates - Agreed. In fact they were turned off but at the end of the Windows10 push from Microsoft, the system did the update anyway. As always would happen in a live performance, it kicked off just after the opening music, 2 minutes into the start of a Christmas show. :( I got called over to sit on the front of the stage and entertain 300 people for 20 minutes while it completed.

We are on a new system now that came with Windows 10. I have been holding out for updates to drivers assuming that others with Windows10 issues would drive driver updates that would fix the issues. So far no joy. Worst case, I may have to go back to Win7 but I am not real thrilled about moving back to such a insecure OS.

Make sure that the USB power settings have not changed with the update. The USB ports should be set to NEVER power down (it's a power-saving feature of Windows).
Also, the WiFi should always be turned off on the computer until such time as you do want to update the computer.
