Popping sound

Post by dalx » Sat Sep 22, 2018 11:00 am

Hi all.

I need some help.

I am running Showcue into a Behringer X32 rack mixer through its X-USB card, 4 x stereo channels. All has been running fine for years.

For the first time in a show I am attempting to have a rain sound effect at low level playing in the background for a considerable time.

However at approx 3 to 5 minute intervals a loud popping occurs through the system. The popping sound is like a mains spike. It can happen on some or all of the channels, but only when this continuous rain effect is playing. It is on a 10 minute loop and the file size is around 9 megs. When the track is not playing all is silent. The rain effect is similar to white noise. All other audio playing is fine.

The popping sound always has happened when the whole system is powered up but never after. I assume its the digital feed into the mixer starting.

Could it be a driver or buffer issue in SC or win 7.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

regards

Geoff,

I presume you're using ASIO, so apart from checking that you have the latest X32 and X-USB drivers installed, try increasing the ASIO buffer length - see ASIO Problems in the SCS Help. Also, disable any virus checking program.

Correction: By 'X32 driver' I meant 'X32 firmware'.
