Using Mac to create video and sound files

Post by jeannie harris » Wed Feb 14, 2018 11:30 pm

Just started with SCS on a windows laptop. Everything cool up to now. However, I tend to create most of my files using Mac.
Are there any pitfalls I should look for? Most of my video files are .mov and I use a lot of .wav files. Will scs handle these OK.
Are there any Mac created formats I should avoid?
Thanks
Great program BTW

Hi jeannie harris,
If you install scs with lav filters, SCS will play most of video files.
I use mov files created in mac environment by design companies and all worked fine till now.

Enjoy SCS is a great tool.

Shouldn't be a problem, Jeannie - it's worth reading up about video libraries in the SCS documentation (http://www.showcuesystems.com/scs11help ... ntext=1060) if you do have any issues, but the packaged LAV filters can handle most things you chuck at it. Otherwise, I find that ffmpeg (https://www.ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg.html) is a great tool to do some quick conversions, if you're OK with command line stuff.

For audio files, .wav and .mp3 are fine. I find .aif and .m4a need converting outside SCS. Not a big problem though.
