I use a midi device now for playing cues (Steinberg CMC-TP, out of production but every now and then available on sites like ebay https://www.steinberg.net/en/products/a ... mc_tp.html).
It works very good. This device has many keys with backlit as feedback. It would be very nice if you could see that a cue is playing. And maybe lit the stop button when no cue is played. For this you need for example to configure 2 midi commands to switch on and off the Play button and 2 midi commands to switch on and off the Stop button. For example, if a cue starts very softly, you can still see from the key that you started the cue.
Kind regards,
Onno

Hello,
is this something that can be added, or do I have to explain it more? English is not my native language, I hope I have been clear.
Kind regards,
Onno

Re: Midi feedback of Play status
I've just had a look at the Steinberg site and downloaded the "CMC Guide Book" but this document doesn't provide any info on what message formats can be passed to or from the controller. I can't find anything more detailed than that document. Do you have a list of MIDI messages that the CMC-TP accepts or can be configured to accept?

I attached a SCS project with an example where I switch on a light of a key when the smoke machine is on. Would be nice to see such feedback when any cue is playing (same as you play a track on a CD player or software like Cubase).

Re: Midi feedback of Play status
I've begun playing around with using a Novation Launchpad the same way and it is currently a bit cumbersome to configure. To have each pad play a cue and light up I have to manually assign a midi cue to each cue and add a control subcue under each cue that sends the same note on command back to the controller to light up the pad.
For instance, controller pad 1 sends a midi note on command for note 1 which calls midi cue 1 which is assigned to cue 1 which calls a sub control cue to send a midi note 1 on command back to the controller to light up pad 1. Rinse and repeat for every pad/cue.
It would be great if there was an option to have every cue automatically respond to it's corresponding midi cue and send a note on command back out.
