very old version

Post by dickcrabbe » Wed Apr 19, 2017 7:14 pm

Hi Mike, I know this may be unsupported now but I still use SCS 8.4.3 on all my shows & love it. I'm a simple user & don't need the cleverness of later versions, also some of the versions were a little "colourful". Anyhow, my version has stopped running, or probably stopped displaying. Nothing at all comes up, but if I try to open the program again it tells me an existing version is already running. I'm a windows 10 home user. This is a recent thing. I've been doing some live music recently and haven't used SCS for a couple of months, since the Costa Book awards at the end of January. Any suggestions? Best wishes

update. It's made me download the current version on demo and I'm very impressed. If it's as stable as the old one then I guess I have an answer.

Yes, 8.4.3 is quite old - it was released in Jan 2006. Much has changed since then, both in SCS and in associated technology. Whenever a major new version of Windows is released I try to ensure that the current release of SCS is compatible with this version, but I can't guarantee older SCS releases will run OK. SCS 8 through SCS 10 were compiled using a now-obsolete development environment (ie compiler). SCS 11 is compiled under a supported development environment.

I do understand Mike & thanks for trying to keep older versions running. The issue is with one of the W10 updates, it ran fine initially. Happily my experience of the newest version is good so I'll upgrade.
