[Resolved] A program error was detected - Division by zero

Post by howartp » Sun Feb 16, 2014 11:56 pm

Hi Mike,

At Church we have two PCs - one is used week in, week out for everything, and the second is only used during large events (dual operator).

Our annual Pantomime starts on Saturday lunchtime and this week is Dress Rehearsals (Monday, Tuesday and Friday).

I've been preparing and running all the sound and video effects on the main PC since rehearsals started in October, and I came to copy it onto the other PC on Friday evening and it won't load the file. We use this PC for SFX on the big events because the main PC has all the extra hardware and higher specs for everything else we run during shows.

Both PCs are running 11.2.5. The main PC is Win 7 Ultimate SP1, the second PC is Win XP Home SP3.

I used the main PC to 'Collect production files' into a folder, then copied the folder across.

When I open the file from the newly copied folder, I get the following error:

Error Message: Division by Zero
Error Code: -1073741676
Code Address: 5120739
Sourcecode file: common.pbi
Sourcecode line: 3944
Thread: #1
Time: 22352
TraceLines: 0,0,0
SCS version: 11.25.5

The same message appears every time I open this specific file. If I hold 'shift' and tell it to not open the last file, SCS opens fine. Then I open the file and it throws the error again. The only data that changes each time is the 'Time' value - everything else is constant.

I have tried the SCS 'Factory Reset' as well, but the problem still occurs.

Any ideas?

Peter

The error is occurring on trying to position an image, and SCS is finding the height of that image is 0, so possibly the image file itself is either missing or corrupt. I've emailed you details of a tracing version I'd like you to run which will help me identify the actual image file and details of that file.

After some investigation, it was found that the WMV file being used for this run was in a non-standard format. Neither xVideo nor DirectShow were able to play the file. The original problem was that xVideo reported the width and height incorrectly as 0 pixels, which led to the 'division by zero' error.

The file was then 'converted' (or re-formatted) using the NCH Prism Video Converted and the file then played perfectly with no errors thrown.

During this investigation another unrelated issue was found, and that was that an inactive screen was being identified, with width and height of 0 pixels. I haven't come across that before, but a mod is now ready for the next release to ignore any screens with a width and/or height of 0 pixels.
