Volume /Pan Adjustments (in SCS 9)

Here is a simple problem that is driving me crazy and would be a simple fix. Next to the Volume and Pan are numeric numbers indicating level and direction of pan. I would love it if I could highlight them and TYPE what I want rather than using the very touchy slide control. Better for making fine adjustments.
