What I would like is a “Wait For” cue that has much more flexibility than the Exclusive property (which is only for audio/video cues). This "Wait For" cue would have a list of cues similar to SFR cues, that it will wait for to be completed, and in the meantime the GO button is disabled similar to exclusive cues. I’m not sure what type of cue this should be, you probably would want to make it an Auto cue, and still show the next Manual cue at the top of the main window. I don't think you should be able to activate this cue, but am not positive.
Here's an example of its use. This allows you to insert a “Wait For” cue in the middle of control send cues, the first few which may be for the currently playing track and are OK to activate, and the rest may be for a live orchestra and singer piece and want to be held until the previous audio track in SCS completes (but perhaps not an effects background track like wind). Of if you have some tracks that can be layered on top of each other, but some that cannot, you can use this. The idea is to establish a barrier that you cannot accidentally go past with an accidental press of the GO button.
I use SCS to play recorded music for a theatre production including sending midi control signals to change presets on a mixer. There's also a live orchestra and mic'd actors that I have to mix on the mixer, sometimes all together. I can have SCS time mixer preset changes based on the recorded track if there is one, which is really nice - this eliminates human error and a lot of work. But sometimes there's just the orchestra playing and for consistency I want to use the GO button in SCS to change mixer presets, especially when they are not linear in number. The idea here is to make sure you don't advance too quickly by accident, e.g. wait for the last recorded track to finish before allowing the next control send cue to be sent.
Exclusive cues handle simple cue lists when there's just audio cues, but when you start mixing in control send and SFR cues, there's not enough information to establish proper barriers.
