Hi, I find myself in a situation where having SCS able to send out Midi Time Code would be extremely helpful. I will be running a carols night in a few weeks time, and would like to be able to run the lighting in time with the videos/music of the carols. The lighting software (DMXControl) which will be on a second computer linked by midi has the ablility to run the lighting cues in response to MTC.
I have searched and tested the concept with Reaper to see that it works, but haven't found a way around it at this stage.
This was requested back in 2007, has anything come out of it?
I know I will have to work around the problem this year, but it would be nice for future shows.
Or does someone know where I can get a software based midi time code generator that can be midi controlled to interface with SCS.
[In 11.2.1] Midi Time Code
Re: Midi Time Code
Our ShowMan show control software will do this, although it's not cheap. It does run in demo mode and will do it for 30 minutes at a time if that meets your needs. Also, SoundMan-Server generates and reads regular LTC via audio outputs and inputs and SCS may support this as an initial process.russhart wrote: Or does someone know where I can get a software based midi time code generator that can be midi controlled to interface with SCS.

Re: Midi Time Code
I've had a number of requests for MTC support and have recently discussed this in detail with an SCS user in Germany. I am planning to add a new cue/sub-cue type in SCS 11 to start/stop MTC.
A 'start MTC' sub-cue will allow you to enter a start time code when sending time codes (default 0, or 0:00:00.0). There will also be an option to automatically stop MTC when the parent cue ends - typically to allow MTC to be sent while an audio file sub-cue is playing, and to stop MTC at the end of that sub-cue. Alternatively you may stop MTC when required using a 'stop MTC' cue/sub-cue. Global options will be available for selecting the MIDI Port and for selecting the rate (24/25/29.97/30).
So although this will not be available in time for this year's carols, MTC support will be added to SCS 11 soon.

Re: Midi Time Code
What you have described is basically what I need in able to do what I am thinking. For this years show I will have to send the lighting software midi notes to change the scenes at the required times, but am looking forward to this being in SCS 11

Mmmmm! . . . In view of the fact that there are many ways to control external devices, like lighting consoles etc., the addition of MTC in SCS 11 sounds very interesting, Mike . . . it will give users an alternative option to using MIDI messages or a MIDI file. I also hadn't realised that SoundMan-Server could generate LTC.
I for one, look forward to hearing how SCS users are controlling other devices . . . there's already been some great advice in the forum . . thanks to all those concerned!
Cheers . . . Martin

It can also follow and chase LTC. In fact, SM-S can have up to 8 separate LTC generators and readers!! Yikes!runawaymartin wrote:I also hadn't realised that SoundMan-Server could generate LTC.
