multichannel USB or PCI audio outputs??

Post by MizeSoundGuy » Wed Oct 05, 2011 1:03 pm

I'm looking to replace a little USB 2x2 audio dongle that we bought in a pinch when the on-board audio on our tech booth computer developed an annoying buzz. We really don't need any inputs, but most audio interfaces that I have found are designed for recording or surround sound gaming and don't have the 4 (or 6) discrete outputs I am looking for.

What are people using as audio interfaces that have more than 2 discrete outputs (PCI or USB)??

Does anyone know whether you can use more than one 2x2 USB devices like the Behringer U-Control UCA202 to get 4 discrete outputs?

Thanks,

Hallo,

http://www.showcuesystems.com/forum/vie ... ?f=1&t=958 shows audio devices working with SCS. Additional to my post there, Terratec Phase 26 USB works fine, too (but is not selled anymore).

I have been using Focusrite Scarlett 8i6, http://focusrite.com/ They have a variety of products. But on 1 out of 3 computers that I tested I have been getting USB interference crackles. On another computer I experienced this crackling when the USB dongle for wireless network was on the same side of the computer. This particular unit has 6 outputs, 4 analog and 2 SPDIF. It is industrial strength and good quality. But as you say , it is more geared to recording than just providing 6 outputs.

M-Audio Fast Track pro, 2 balanced, 2 unbalanced outputs
Maya44 USB 4 unbalanced outs
Both work OK with SCS

The Gigaport HD seems to be the thing I have been looking for: 8 independent outputs configurable as 44.1kHz with 16-bit and 8 channels, 44.1kHz with 24-bit and 6 channels, 48kHz with 24-bit and 6 channels, 96kHz with 24-bit and 2 channels. US$119 pretty much everywhere (in the US) looks to be a steal. The outputs aren't balanced but the tech booth computer and mixer are pretty much next to each other so this does not present a problem. Works with Mac and PC. http://www.esi-audio.com/products/gigaporthd/
I have looked everywhere (or so I thought) and missed this one. Thanks to all who responded.
