An entry in the general forum by Nigel Bayliss got me to thinking about a feature that might have some merit. It would seem there's a fair amount of interest by the user community in having external triggers fire off cues in SCS and Mike has now provided several interfaces (MIDI, serial, telnet, DMX) to accomplish this. I think a really useful way to organize cues that are triggered externally would be to have a separate cue list for them. So my feature request would be for the ability to place manually and externally triggered cues into separate lists, while maintaining the ability to trigger hotkey cues by either method.
Comments?

Re: Multiple Cue Lists
I've had other requests for supporting multiple cue lists in the Editor, mainly to simplify the process of copying cues from another cue list (which, of course, can be done using the Import Cues facility). But having multiple cue lists running at the same time in the main screen is an interesting concept. Any other thoughts/comments on this are welcome.

The following reply was received from runawaymartin:
The subsequent discussion regarding 'Auto Start' cues has been split off into a new topic: Hide auto-start cues.runawaymartin wrote:As SCS grows there is an ongoing dilemma that Mike has to combat, and that is the issue of the main screen staying informative without getting unnecessarily cluttered.
I therefore think that the request Bruce is making is an excellent one. Although he didn’t actually state it I’m assuming that only one cue list would be displayed on the main screen at any one time . . the content of that screen, ‘manual’ or ‘external’, being selectable by a button at the top of the screen. This would be a very quick way for the operator to check what is running. I can envisage that other buttons would be added as SCS progresses.
A while back I made the following suggestion,If that was deemed to be a valid suggestion then the ‘Hide’ cue list could also be one of the buttons that could be selected as a main screen. If a Cue is to be activated by ‘Auto Start’ could there be another optional checkbox under ‘Cue Properties’ called ‘Hide’ which, although ‘Enabled’, prevents the Cue from being displayed on the main screen?
Cheers . . . Martin

Re: Multiple Cue Lists
Has there been any development on this?
I'm about to do a musical where I will use SCS for both sound effects and click tracks, I want the MD to start the tracks with a button into a midi solutions box but I don't want him to ever accidentally trigger the next sound effect when he puts his baton down or moves his score. Two, seperate cue lists would only ever allow him to start the next click track, although there's nothing I can do about him starting it at the wrong time but I can program the faders to only be up when the song is about to start!
I would find this really useful, anyone else?

Re: Multiple Cue Lists
No development yet on multiple cue lists, but you can achieve what you want now if you have an SCS Professional Plus license. Go to the SCS Help and look up The Editor / Cue Properties / Cue-Start Confirmation. This covers the scenario you describe of having the MD start selected cues only, by sending a MIDI command to 'confirm' the starting of those cues.

Thank you Mike, I didn't know that function was there. You are ahead of me again!

Re: Multiple Cue Lists
Just a comment to say that this feature is common in lighting desks, where they call them multiple playbacks.
Perhaps we could also have the capability to assign seperate cue files to each playback, as well as seperate cue lists within a single cue file?
