Mike, I had an opportunity to build a couple of music playlists for our current show that required me to create specific mixes for each song with the subsequent song. We were trying to simulate a radio station, so I couldn't put a common mix across all of the cuts. In the editor, I really like the ability to play the last 5 or 10 seconds of each song so that I can hear how the mix will play out. But, when you've got, say, 15 songs that you need to mix, and you're working on the mix between songs 14 and 15, it becomes it becomes rather a chore to listen to the 20 seconds of each previous song in the playlist, just in order to get down to the last one. With 15 songs, you have to listen to 20*14, or 280 seconds of other songs that you've already mixed, in order to get to the last 10 second mix that you're insterested in.
In the Playlist Test mode, when you specify the "first and last" 5 or 10 seconds of each, it always starts from the first song in the playlist. What I would like to see is simply a functionality change to start from a highlighted song. That is, if I want to start from the beginning of the entire playlist, then I should highlight the first song. But, if I'm working on the mix of the last two songs, I would like the ability to simply start the 5 or 10 second playback from where I have highlighted, rather than listening to the entire set of songs.
This change wouldn't require any additional real estate on the screen, and would certainly speed up the development process for the users who are presumably using this feature for developing specific mixes anyway.

Re: Playlist Test "from here"
Hi Mike
I would like to add my support to Dan's idea of running the playlist test from a selected file. I would then find it quicker to test the transition of files added to the playlist at a later date, as the earlier transitions have already been tested.
Would it also be possible to enable the track slider in the playlist editor? that would give even more flexibility.
Thanks

Hi Mike
Just a quick note of thanks for adding the play from here test feature. works a treat.
The enabling of the track slider was only a nice to have, if it was easy to implement
Thanks again.
