Windows Vista Ultmate and SCS

Post by pzguitar » Fri Dec 28, 2007 3:25 pm

Hi All,

I have been running SCS on Windows Vista Home Premium with zero problems two shows a day for six months. I need to upgrade to Vista Ultimate to run Pro Tools.

Has any one had any SCS issues with Vista Ultimate before I make the change? Running a flawless show is more important than loading Pro Tools.

Thank you,
Phil Zychowski

I'm currently running my "production editor PC" with Vista Ultimate and transferring to a XP Pro laptop for use during the performance. Using a SB Audigy 2 PCI card in the PC adressing 6 independent channels for cues, and an external USB Soundblaster 24 Bit on the laptop. I've encountered no problems whatsoever other than having to check the box for "floating point" in the driver settings box on both XP and Vista. Hope this helps alleviate your concerns.

I run SCS on Vista Ultimate (64-bit...ewwwww) and have had no problem at all with SCS,
drivers for soundcards , thats a different story.

MOTU Ultralite is the current choice( and its great) . But willbe moving back to 32 bit very soon.

I've just got through running SCS on a Vista Ultimate laptop (DELL Inspiron E1505 with a replacement 2.3 duo processor) for a two day convention and I've had only a couple of minor problems (I know, I earlier said running XP was stabler, but I'm a tester and I needed to run this combo).
Twice (only), after adding some additional clips, and clicking "Save":
1. the new file(s) did not appear on the main screen and
2. hitting the spacebar (or Right-clicking) would not make anything to play.
Luckily this happened before rehearsal, so I re-booted SCS and THEN the new files appeared and everything played normally. So I just made it a habit to do a quick test, offline, to make sure something would play.
Bottom line was - if I could see all the files, that should be there - were there, it always played; if the last files I added/edited did not show up in the main window, it would not respond (play or even move the time bar).
