"Mute" cues

Post by moonthink » Wed Feb 08, 2006 11:33 am

I had an idea the other night, for a new cue type - let's call it a "mute" cue. I'll try to describe it...

Let's say you have one or more sound cues/files already running. Then, at the touch of the GO button, you simultaneously "mute" or "unmute" the sounds/files you choose. The files keep running, but no sound is play if they are muted.

An example of a practical application could be changing TV or radio stations, or turning them on and off.

Interesting idea that could be implemented like the suggestion here. The main difference, which could be accommodated, is whether or not the cue is paused.

Yes, both pause and mute cues could have similar uses, though different approaches. Worth considering, I think.

Level Change cues already do what a mute cue did, and more! If you just set the fade time to 0, you get a snap out, and a snap back in again. Simply set 2 cues, one to take the volume to 0 and one to take it back up to your desired level and set them to affect the same cue.
