New "Memo" Cue type (in 10.1.0 as "Note" cue type)

Post by john-tapas » Mon May 19, 2008 5:57 am

I have used SCS now for a few shows and it does everything I have attempted with style.
My use is frequently a mixture of backing tracks and live vocals.
It would be great if some form of replacement for my mixer cue sheet could be incorporated.
This could be a reminder of which microphone channels to lift, or any changes to settings etc.

My idea would be as follows;-

"Memo" Type Cue

Memo displayed as a single line either between cue panel and buttons or at bottom of screen.
(Memo Cues would not appear in Cue Panel)

Parameters
Memo Text - Single line of text
Auto start – Same options as Audio cues.
Display time – Indefinite or timed.

Only one Memo visible at any time. – ie a new cue clears the previous irrespective of any remaining display time.

Hope this makes sense.

John

There is something like this coming in SCS 10. The implementation isn't the same as your feature request, but it does go most of the way towards meeting this requirement.

SCS 10 will have a "Note" cue type, which is basically a cue without any sub-cues. You enter your "note" in the "Description" field. The usual cue activation methods are available. The note cue will be displayed in the cue panels, but the note is displayed centered in a text box so that it stands out from visually other cues. The note is dismissed by 'playing' the cue.

Hi Mike
That sounds great to me.

I see from other posts that the ETA of V10 is middle of year.
No pressure, but my next show is 5th June!

Keep up the good work.

Cheers

John

5th June is just over two weeks away! A compromise solution using SCS 9 would be to use dummy MIDI Send Cues and put your "memo" into the cue description.

Hi Mike

I used the dummy midi cue and this was a great help. I tried to make these clear automatically so that there is no risk of either forgetting to click an "instruction" and then missing a sound play cue, or worse starting a cue by mistake. The only difficulty with that is setting a "note" that is cleared by the next manual cue (I know you could use the "note" as the cue and make the sound trigger automatically after that but this means the "note" becomes a cue, which is confusing.

Does this make sense?

My suggestion would be to have an additional 'auto start' option that simply clears it when the next cue is played.

cheers

John
