ASIO Support?

Post by SimnaWeb » Mon Aug 27, 2007 11:55 am

Mike,

I don't remember seeing you mention ASIO support, however, I had a very nice little surprise this evening. I recently bought a Edirol UA-1X USB Interface and it worked very nicely. It only gives 1 stereo pair, but its better than the onboard soundcard in my Dell Laptop. And the only drivers for it are the ASIO built in drivers.

Did I miss that announcement? Or just a pleasant surprise?

ASIO is not yet available in SCS so I expect something in the Edirol or Dell drivers is managing to play using the Windows WDM driver.

I'm working on a new major release of SCS and ASIO support is one of the features I am planning to include.

Thanks for confirming I am not entirely crazy. I have a couple small events coming up in the next month or two and was thinking about using this. Would you trust it?

If you get good quality sound (checking with at least reasonably good speakers) then I'd expect everything to be OK. To provide better assurance, I suggest running a simulation of your shows / events. For example, run a cue list all the way through using the Edirol, and leave typically gaps between cues, so if in the show you are likely to have 15 minutes of non-SCS activity between two cues, then do the same in your simulation.
