If you have a Creative Audigy2 NX and are willing to run a simple test program for me, please email me at mdaniell@optusnet.com.au.

I'm just wondering if you were able to get these tests run? I've just purchased the software, and I'm looking at hardware to improve the sound output from my older laptop (that I'm hoping to use to run the shows with). I've considered the Audigy 2, and I was wondering what your results showed.
If you still don't have test results, does anyone have suggestions, on an inexpensive solution for running with a laptop? Right now I don't even have a line out, so I know that I'm going to need something. We just don't have any $$ right now to invest in a lot of equipment. We are a new (third year) armature theatre doing dinner theatre, and a few small one-act shows on location, so things have to be portable.
Thanks for any suggestions.

The tests are a bit inconclusive and I don't personally have an Audigy 2 so I cannot fully test the card.
The issue that was raised prompting my request for assistance was that a user reported the individual channels on the Audigy were not being recognised by SCS. With assistance from a few users I produced a test program that basically was nothing more than a user interface to drive the audio library routines, and after some tweaking we managed to get the test program to handle the outputs OK. However, when I plugged EXACTLY the same code into SCS one of my testers still reports a problem.
As far as I know this doesn't happen on any other card.

dougs,
an inexpensive option for a laptop is any one of a number of products by Edirol. The have relatively cheap ($80 US) USB to audio in and out, and some more expensive ones with more options and midi in/out. I currently use 2 different Edirol products: The UA-1A and the UA-1X. Luckily, my system recognizes them as different sound out options, so I can use them together with SCS to have 4 channels of sound. If I use the headphone output and internal soundcard, then I am up to 6 channels.

Thanks to both of you for the information.
I will take a look at the edirol options and see what we can do!!
Mike, if we do choose to go with the audigy, I would be happy to run any tests that you might have, if that would help.
This software is wonderful, and it's taken so much pressure off of me already and we have only had a it a few days. I'm sure that any of the people that have had difficulty running our shows in the past would have no problem now.
Now I just have to figure out how to incorporate a couple of mics into the picture and we will be all set.
Thanks again!!
