[Resolved] Stop cue playing before it is finished and skip to next cue.
I am using SCS for playing back tracks for a High School Pep rally. Some of the tracks that I have been given I will have to end the track before it is done playing and this will be based on what happens live. I know I can mouse over to the Stop button on the track but I was hoping that there is a way (maybe a keyboard shortcut) to stop the cue (track) from playing and standby for the next cue (track) to be played that is set to manual.
This isn’t the first time I have used SCS for this. But I don’t use it regularly and I can’t find how to do this. I tried the options shortcuts – Skip to next Cue Marker, Ctrl+0 but that doesn’t seem to do anything.
This Pep Rally is tomorrow. I can always mouse over to the Stop on the Cue but I was looking for a better way to do this.
Thank you for any help that you might be.

You can use an SFR Cue. I suggest you add this at the end of your cue file as a hotkey cue - eg with the hotkey S. Set the 'Action Required' to 'Stop Immediately' or to 'Fade Out and then Stop', and set the 'Cue or Sub-Cue to be Actioned' to 'All playing audio cues'. If you use 'Fade Out and then Stop' then set 'Time Override for Fades' to the fade out time you want.
Now when you are playing the cue for an audio track and want to stop the cue and position the cue list at the next cue, just press S (or the hotkey you selected).

I didn’t have the time to try your suggestion.
I would like this to be a request for a change. As I said I can mouse over to the Stop button on the track and that will do exactly what I want. It stops the (cue) track from running and it then is waiting for the next manual cue to be triggered. Please make a shortcut key that does what the stop button does.

Kevin,
There's always the Esc (Stop All) or the Shift+Esc (Fade all) buttons - may be a bit drastic but both should see you through.
Phil.

Re: Stop cue playing before it is finished and skip to next cue.
I got thru the show just fine using the mouse to click on the STOP of the cue that was playing. Awkward but i got thru it.
The ESC or Shift+Esc is WAY TOO drastic because it takes me right back to the beginning of the track I was just playing. I thought at one point when playing with this that it took me back the the beginning of the cue list. Either the Esc or the ESC+Shift is WAY TOO inconvenient and requires more mousing around and being sure to get to the next cue that is supposed to play next. Some of the cues just needed to play to the end and some needed to stop before the track was done playing. So it isn't constant with what i need to do.
The show is spontaneous and needs the flexibility to work quickly. Sometimes these cues need to be hit quickly from one to the other and some times not so quickly. There is already the functionality in the program that will do what I want to do. Or should I say have it behave the way that works for this kind of event (show). And that is the STOP button on the cue. So I am asking that the STOP button that stops the Playing cue be available as a shortcut key.
Playing around a bit while writing this I found that if I hit ESC which I know will stop the track (Cue) from playing and then if I hit the down arrow it will take me to the next cue and standby for me to hit the space bar to play that cue. This would have worked for me as long as I remember to only do that to the tracks that needed to be stopped before they played all the way thru.
As I said in my first post in this thread "I tried the options shortcuts – "Skip to next Cue Marker", Ctrl+0 but that doesn’t seem to do anything." if that shortcut key combo works it looks like it should do exactly what I want. Does anyone have any idea why that doesn't work? I am using SCS Standard. Are the short cut keys disabled in this version?
One of the track when playing it back, it played fine but the track progress indicator didn't continue to move as the track played it got a point and the indicator didn't continue to move.
Thank you for your help.

Not quite sure why you don’t want to follow Mike’s suggestion, which will achieve just what you want without fiddling with the mouse (assuming you use the space bar as GO rather than mousing up to the GO button). ‘All playing cues’ or ‘All playing audio cues’ does what it says on the tin, and will stop/fade any track that is running. Only if you have more than one track running at the same time, and you want to stop only one, would one need to resort to the cue’s stop button. I use it on every show for early unplanned stops. It will only take 5 minutes to set up. I call the cue Q900 and set it at the end of the list. My preference is to use 0 (Zero) on the number pad for the hot key.
‘Skip to next Cue Marker’ is not for this purpose. See the Help file. This is used where marker(s) have been set in the audio track of a cue file, enabling one to jump forward or backward if required, for example

Thanks, Malcolm! I was writing a similar reply when I noticed your posting appear. The point about this SFR hotkey suggestion is that it is available now; doesn't require any change to the program; and the stop is achieved using a single keypress, which is what you want.

When the SFR Hotkey solution was recommended I misinterpreted it. I thought I needed to configure it for each cue I don’t realize I just needed it only once at the end. I tried it and it works as I would like it to for this type of event.Mike Daniell wrote: ↑Sun Oct 16, 2022 9:45 amThanks, Malcolm! I was writing a similar reply when I noticed your posting appear.
