Relative MTC time as the start time for a sub-cue

Post by sergioherculanomusic » Tue May 04, 2021 7:42 am

I would love to have the possibility to have individual MTC start Time for the sub-cues, with that is possible to group the tracks actions for each specific music track I am going to play in my DJ Gear that will send individual timecode offset for each Music Track.

For organization purposes is better to have CUE that represent the Music Track and Sub-Cues that represents the actions to be executed as you can see in the picture below.

I hope this can be also interesting for the other users.

Hi @Mike Daniels,

I was thinking that in case this change be complicated a possibility could be add possibility to group CUES like exist in QLab, it means we can group CUES and be able to colapse them under this Group.

Do you think this make sense and can be also a good feature for other colleagues ?

Thanks in advance,

Sérgio

Sérgio,

Adding the ability to set a sub-cue's relative start MTC time to a cue that has an absolute MTC start time fits in well with the SCS concept of cues. (For the benefit of other users, Sérgio and I have previously discussed this by email.) As shown in your graphic, 'Music Track A' is a cue, and 'Music Trace B' is a cue. The other activities such as 'music drop' are basically activities that occur within a cue.

To implement relative MTC, the examples shown in your graphic would be slightly different. For example, if 'Music Track A' starts at MTC 00:10:00:00 then the relative MTC for 'Music break-down...' would be 00:00:30:00, and SCS would then calculate an absolute MTC of 00:10:30:00.

As Sérgio and I have previously discussed, the advantage of using relative MTC times for sub-cues is that you can then change the absolute MTC for the cue itself and not have to change the MTC values for sub-cues.

Regarding 'group' cues - I'm not in favor of that, but there has been some discussion on sub-cue terminology - see Renaming "Subcue".

Hi Mike,

Understood and make sense your example, if we talk about relative start time make more sense like you explained and not as in my figure.

Thanks

Hi Mike,

Any Ideas or plans when this functionality can be added ? Thanks in advance

I'll look into this shortly - if it's not too complicated I should be able to implement it in the next release.
