Laptop requirements and programme freezing

Post by Sue Hickson » Wed Nov 07, 2018 11:41 pm

Hi
I’m struggling a bit with SCS at the moment although I’ve used it a lot for sounds and visuals (stills and videos) in our small amateur theatre. This time the programme freezes a lot, specially when I reposition cues and also when I save the file as I try to do a lot in order not to lose changes. The programme says ‘not responding’ and can take a number of seconds before it recovers. This happened both before and after I downloaded the most recent version.
I’ve had my laptop back to the shop and they can’t find any problems (although I don’t think they know enough about SCS to check that).

Two questions:
1. Can you suggest an immediate solution?
2. I think I need a new laptop anyway (although I have used the old one successfully for several years) so what do you suggest I buy in terms of memory, sound card etc.

Hi Sue,

Just out of interest where are you saving your file to?

I had one of my shows stored on a Google Drive and I noticed that saving was incredibly slow with SCS freezing for some time. Never had a problem with local storage though.
