Setting Fader Device levels
Setting Fader Device levels
Mike,
Do we have a way of changing Fader levels for an Audio device?
Scenario
I may have 2 or 3 or even 4 effects playing as background at the same time through an Audio device, say to simulate an outer office with typewriters and phones. When the door is opened I need to increase the level then lower when the door is closed. It would be useful to do that on the fader of the audio device via a cue rather than as series of level changes for each playing audio cue? (It also means that if I add a sound cue I don't need to add it into each level change cue although in reality I might easily set these up as called cues.)
(or is that what the use same level check box does?)
Phil.

Re: Setting Fader Device levels
If you're happy to do this manually, you can use the Faders Window. (Sorry about the way this Help page may display in full-screen mode, with the screenshot hard-right - I've fixed that for the next release.) The Faders Window is accessed via the 'Show Faders' button below the VU meters in the main window. Note that you need to have the 'Use BASS mixer' Audio Driver option set, or be using ASIO as the audio driver.
Re: Setting Fader Device levels
I was really looking to do this via a cue rather than manually to be honest Mike. Something like a Add level Change to Cue to output Chanel.
I could do it via a MIDI call to the sound desk with the outter office sound going through their own chanel on the desk. The problem there is thats instant and in reality a door opening is sort of a 1 to half a second second
But no worries if there's not or it's not doable.

Re: Setting Fader Device levels
I'm currently working on some other changes to Level Change cues (for tempo, pitch and sample rate), and I think it's reasonable to also support level changes to audio output devices, so I'll look into that.
Re: Setting Fader Device levels
Excelelent, Thanks Mike.
Re: Setting Fader Device levels
How about a "change level of all playing cues" cue? Then no need to change the master - and more importantly, no chance of forgetting to reset it before the next cues. Especially relevant, for example, if the sound op is just sitting in for one or two performances and is not the person who created the cue file.
Re: Setting Fader Device levels
Yes I see, I didn't quite read the requirement carefully enough - I missed the part about it being only for a specific output device.
