Support for LSC Mantra Lite Lighting Console

I am seriously considering the purchase of an LSC Mantra Lite lighting console following an update to the firmware last month allowing for remote triggering of cues over a network connection.
By my reading of the most recent user manual (link below - particularly Sect 16 - Remote Triggering), I should be able to interface with Show Cue Systems to remotely trigger lighting cues via OSC or one of the other protocols mentioned.
As I am relatively new to the world of Show Cue Systems and all the possibilities it entails, it would be appreciated if someone more experienced in the software (and perhaps the lighting desk itself) was able to confirm my thinking is correct.

Many Thanks,

Brendan,

Your thinking is correct, although I've not used the LSC console so cannot give you detailed instructions. What I presume you will need to do is:
  • In SCS Production Properties set up a Network Control Send Device with the 'Remote Device' set to 'Other OSC Device'. Set the 'Network Protocol' to UDP. Set the IP Address for the LSC console, and the port number that you select on the LSC console. (The console documentation indicates that you choose the port number.)
  • Click 'Apply Device Changes', and I recommend you also save your changes.
  • Create an SCS Control Send Cue for each console cue or other action required. The 'OSC Command Type' should be set to 'Free Format'. The 'OSC Message' should be set according to the LSC documentation. For example: /PlayMemory/Page=1/Memory=2/Cue=3/Level=100/Fade=4000
This is all guess work as I can't confirm it, but hopefully it's good enough to help you get started.

Thanks Mike,
Haven't actually purchased the desk yet, so it will be a little while before I can confirm all works as expected.
I have had my eye on one of these for a while, but it is the recent software upgrade allowing for remote triggering which is the "game-changer".
For now, I was just seeking confirmation my thinking was along the right lines.
We currently use an old Jands Event 408 which works fine as a standalone desk as well as through a MIDI interface for remote triggering. But it is far from user-friendly by today's standards, particularly for programming and playing back cuelists.

Brendan,
For typical theatre work you may find SCS Lighting Cues well able to handle your requirements, rather then using a separate lighting console. The only external hardware you will need is an Enttec DMX USB Pro or Pro Mk2.

Yes, I am aware of this capability with SCS, but haven't really investigated it yet.
I have played around with a free lighting software package called Freestyler with a cheap USB DMX dongle - works fine.
However, in our situation, we often need nothing more than the very simple "push up fader, light comes on" scenario in the hands of a relatively inexperienced operator.
The LSC Mantra Lite is a very good fit in this regard, while retaining the ability to be fully programmable if required.

For your info.

Now have the LSC Mantra Lite in hand.

Yet to fully delve into it, but the remote triggering appears to work just fine exactly as setout in the discussion above.
