Video not displaying on Screen 2 (screen 3 ok)
Video not displaying on Screen 2 (screen 3 ok)
Hi, I am newly licensed and putting my show together.
I cannot get the video to show on Screen 2. Windows happily displays other content on Screen 2.
The video shows OK in the preview window on Screen 1 and if I elect to play it on Screen 3.
Interestingly, when asked to play on screen 3 it blacks the screen out as it should; but when asked to plan on Screen 2 I don't get that.
In the helpfile I saw to try a different video renderer. I tried each of them with a restart in between and still no luck.
Screen 2 is an HMDI LED Television. It's orientated to portrait (flipped) in Windows.
I tried setting that back to Standard Landscape but it has not make any difference
This is a bit crucial to the show in a few weeks. What can I do please?

Re: Video not displaying on Screen 2 (screen 3 ok)
Please email us the log file from a run in which this happened. Log files are created and saved in a folder named "SCS Logs" under "Documents", and the name of each file includes a time-stamp indicating when the log started. Email the file to support@showcuesystems.com.
Re: Video not displaying on Screen 2 (screen 3 ok)
Hi Mike,
I have done this but after further testig this morning I think I see two issues here:
1) Screen 2, as seen by SCS, is actually screen 3 and vv so when sending to the 'wrong' one it worked...
2) however, when changing the screen for a video clip, the Save does not take effect until a restart of SCS; this explains why my attempts yesterday were not working as I was only trying different screens to send to but not restarting in between.
In short as of now, it is working sending to Screen 3 (for screen 2) and restarting if I need to alter this.
I have sent you the log files and a link to a private video to see the issue occurring.

Re: Video not displaying on Screen 2 (screen 3 ok)
Rob,
There's an error in the SCS documentation (Video Driver Settings), but this poses the question as to whether or not an option should be added or the process changed. In the early days of writing SCS with older versions of Windows, I found the Windows display number to be unreliable. So I modified SCS to number the displays (internally) in the following order: The primary display is always #1. Other displays are numbered starting at #2, left-to-right, top-to-bottom.

Re: Video not displaying on Screen 2 (screen 3 ok)
This gives me comfort that my use of screen 3 for screen 2 would be a permanent fix.
What are your thoughts about the point that the change of screen did not seem to take effect until a restart? Was this a reproducible issue?

Re: Video not displaying on Screen 2 (screen 3 ok)
SCS will need to be restarted for video changes to take effect.

Re: Video not displaying on Screen 2 (screen 3 ok)
When loading up the show today, I found that SCS was treating the same screens in a different order this time.
I had to go in and alter all four video clips to play back again on screen 2, save and then restart the program.
I had not altered the layout of the screens in the windows display settings so if there was supposed to be consistency based on the principle of left to right top to bottom that calculation had come out with a different answer this time.
Although I have a workaround if this happens again next time it does introduce a sense of unpredictability. I've had to document this on my pre-show checklist that every video needs to be reviewed for its screen and tested in a run as to it's actual display location before a show.
This would obviously be a serious problem if I had more than four videos.
I would appreciate if this could be considered for future improvement and or any more hints to ensure the SCS software makes the same choice each time I load it up.

Re: Video not displaying on Screen 2 (screen 3 ok)
As mentioned in an earlier posting, SCS numbers the displays (internally) in the following order: The primary display is always #1. Other displays are numbered starting at #2, left-to-right, top-to-bottom. The intention of this is to ensure that the display numbers used by SCS do not change unless the displays have been moved in Windows Display Settings.
If you think you still have a problem with the numbering, please email us a relevant log file. Log files are saved in a folder named "SCS Logs" under "Documents". Email the file to support@showcuesystems.com. Also a screenshot of your Windows Display Settings.

Re: Video not displaying on Screen 2 (screen 3 ok)
Mike, Elizabeth,
The issue has returned today and now I cannot get the video showing at all on the screen two. Above, before I could alter the screen to screen 3 (even though it was listed as two by windows) and it worked but today that is not working (despite a restart). So Winodws shows an extended desktop but SCS is not sending the signals there despite showing the mini player on the cue screen that the video is otherwise playing.
I am sending over the logs to your support address and will reference this thread.
