SCS11 has gotten into an intolerable state. When I start on my laptop, any attempt to create or edit a show results in a failure dialog, a picture of which is attached.
The ZOOM is not even connected to the laptop. Naturally, I say "Review/Change device map" to try and straighten out confusion. THEN, I get:
SCS Device Init/ ASIO Channel 0 cannot be enabled. With an OK button (I HATE dialog boxes that only offer "OK"). Press it, same error message for ASIO Channel 1.
Press OK again, "Error/ Cannot get a free channel", etc. Press OK to that, I get "Program Error detected, invalid memory access", blah-blah (fyi, it is in modVUDispla.pbi, line 583. I have 11.1.4).
This seems a ridiculous behavior in the face of some hardware not being present. I'd have expected something like, "ZOM not connected, you want to use default h/w", and then just adjust to the situation. Crashing is not good form. Crashing and never even allowing me to reset things is horrible form.
I'll try and load 11.1.5, but of course I'm worried that these bad assumptions will remain after the upgrade.

Just to confirm: loading 11.1.5 did NOT change the catastrophic failure. Still aborts on New or Edit.

Re: SCS 11 init failure: ASIO confusion
Sorry about the problems. Another user reported a similar issue and after some research it appears that when SCS obtains from the BASS audio library the list of ASIO devices there is no indication as to whether or not each device is actually connected. This was not an issue prior to SCS 11.1.4 because by default SCS selected the default DirectSound device when setting up a new production. But in 11.1.4 this was changed to select an ASIO device, the theory being that by default SCS would use ASIO.
Due to the issue of disconnected ASIO devices, in SCS 11.2.1 I have reverted the default to DirectSound. So could you try SCS 11.2.1 RC2 which I've just uploaded? See SCS 11.2.1 RC2 (Release Candidate 2) Available for details.

Re: SCS 11 init failure: ASIO confusion
Mike,
That certainly fixed the problem. So now I'm out here on the bleeding edge for while, eh?
How long before RC2 becomes certified release? Not always comfortable in the role of having a target painted on my back
More to the point, should I have any qualms about using RC2 in productions while awaiting the "real thing"?
Thanks

Re: SCS 11 init failure: ASIO confusion
I've emailed you details of an updated version of 11.1.6 to save you the 'risk' of using 11.2.1, since 11.2.1 is substantially different from 11.1.5 in some areas.
