multiple screens

Post by Ron Akkerman » Sun Mar 17, 2013 10:37 am

First of all working with SCS is a delight. It keeps better and better. Version 11 is again a nice improvement. I can now choose 4 screens. In one of our productions we need 4 beamers. But what do I need to adress these beamers. Since the laptop has only one vga-out. So my simple question is: how to accomplish the use of four beamers within SCS?

A product I'm planning to purchase and test with SCS is a Matrox 'Multi Monitor Adapter', such as the TripleHead2Go. I believe the extra monitors with this equipment can be accessed as extensions of the Windows desktop, but cannot confirm this until I get the adapter. I'm not sure if Matrox have a product that supports 4 displays. How are you planning to use the 4 beamers? Will you be running 4 video/image cues simultaneously? If so, will you have enough power in the laptop to do this? It may be worth considering running SCS on 2 laptops with each laptop handling two beamers, using two DualHead2Go adapters. You could link the laptops via Telnet (if you have SCS Professional Plus).

Thx for the reply. We are planning to use all 4 beamers simultaneously using videocues. I too considered using two laptops, but wouldn't it be great if you could do it all using one. Since there isn't a proving solution yet, I will do some testing too. I will keep you posted with the findings. And please keep me informed how the matrox is doing. Our premiere is due end of may, so we still have a bit of time.

Hi,

I have used something like This
It is cheap and works well. I have not tried more than one but I cant see why it would not work.

Hi Mike,

today my Matrox Dualhead2go was delivered, and i can tell you this: since the Computer still "thinks" there is only one secondary display, scs fails. If i could tell scs the resolution of one (virtual) display (1024x768) and the physical display is twice as big (2048x768), this should work. but if i use a second video-device in scs, scs stretches the two displays and add a black area above and underneath, even if the resolution of the physical device would be enough to show both displays next to another without the black areas.

best regards,
Uwe

According to the info I've read about the Matrox devices, you should be able to configure the multiple screens as required by SCS. However, I'll get a DualHead2Go or TripleHead2Go so I can check this functionality. It'll take me a few weeks to do this.
