SCS 11.1.1 Available

Post by Mike Daniell » Fri Oct 05, 2012 10:22 am

Registered users with current update plans (including users who purchased or upgraded their SCS license during the last 12 months) may now download SCS 11.1.1 from the Members' Download page.

List of Changes
This version is primarily a bug-fix but also contains one new feature and a couple of enhancements. The following changes are included in 11.1.1:
  • New feature: A new menu item is available under the Cues button in the Editor, to allow you to Copy, Move or Delete a Range of Cues. See the Help for details.
  • Enhancement: In Run Program, adding \ after $(Cue) is now optional. Previously an entry like $(Cue)MyFile.ppt would fail and had to be entered as $(Cue)\MyFile.ppt.
  • Enhancement: In Control Send cues using MIDI, the values in many of the drop-down lists may now be entered from the keyboard instead of selecting from the drop-down list. This is mainly of benefit when entering values in lists that contain 128 values, such as the 'Note #' for a MIDI Note ON message. These values can also be entered in hex by including "H" as the last character entered. For example, entering 2AH will select "42 (2AH)".
  • Fixed: SCS-Lite was not allowing fades or loops in audio file cues.
  • Fixed: Right-click to start a cue was ignoring the exclusive state of a playing cue.
  • Fixed: Master fader was not working for BASS ASIO.
  • Fixed: SCS now accepts an ASIO-only environment. Previously SCS required at least one DirectSound device to be available.
  • Fixed: 'Pause' was not working on cues counting down, except by the 'Pause All' button.
  • Fixed: Keyboard shortcuts were not handling the numeric pad.
  • Fixed: A couple of issues with MIDI Control.
  • Fixed: Memory allocated to audio files fully loaded into memory is now freed on opening a new cue file.
  • Fixed: Sometimes SCS would not detect the end of an audio file and the progress counter would freeze about 0.1 second before the end. Mainly affected ASIO users.
  • Fixed: Non-linear auto-start cues could have their auto-start state set back to 'manual' after completion of the controlling cue.
  • Fixed: MIDI control of toggle and note hot keys are now processed as per keyboard equivalents.
  • Fixed: Playlists set to 'repeat' did not repeat due to a change made in SCS 11.1.0.
  • Fixed: a few errors with linked files and auto-start cues.
  • Added an integrity check on Device Maps (see below).
Integrity check on Device Maps
A couple of users have reported problems with a Device Map being corrupted. To try to identify the cause of this I have added a procedure that performs some integrity checking of the information held in the Device Maps. This procedure is called on loading the Device Map file for a production, and also on saving the file. If the integrity check fails, SCS creates a diagnostic dump file and displays an error message. If you get this error, please email me the diagnostic dump file and let me know what happened in the run.

More info on SCS 11.1.1
An SCS 10 feature that is not currently available in SCS 11 is the ability to fade videos. In SCS 10 this was implemented using the xVideo library, but that library is not compatible with SCS 11. A newer version of the xVideo library has been trialed with SCS 11 and this version is compatible. However, the newer version currently lacks a couple of necessary features. Unfortunately the xVideo developer hasn't yet provided an updated version suitable for inclusion in SCS 11.

What's planned for SCS 11.2?
Work is continuing on Live Input support for SoundMan-Server (SM-S) users. When this is released we will also be re-launching the SCS/SM-S partnership which includes far more attractive SM-S pricing, as already mention by Charlie Richmond under the topic Planning for Live Input.
