SCS 11.1.0 Available

Post by Mike Daniell » Fri Sep 07, 2012 10:09 am

Registered users with current update plans (including users who purchased or upgraded their SCS license during the last 12 months) may now download SCS 11.1.0 from the Members' Download page.

List of Changes
The following changes are included in 11.1.0:
  • New feature: In video/image cues, you can now adjust the aspect ratio, size and position of the image. The default aspect ratio is 16:9 but can be changed to 4:3 using a new Production Property, under the Run Time Settings tab.
  • Added: In previous version of SCS 11 only one video playback library was implemented and that was the "Movie" library, similar to "SCSMM" in SCS 10. As I am still waiting for an SCS11-compatible version of xVideo I have implemented "DirectShow" as an alternative video playback library. This is also now the default video playback library. If you want/need to change back to the "Movie" library, go to the new item "Video Driver Settings" in Options and select the required Video Playback Library.
  • Added: A new option under the Meters button on the main window to set the width of the VU meter bars.
  • Changed: The Editing Options (eg Default Fade-In Time for new Audio File Cues) have been moved to Production Properties in the Editor.
  • Changed: If a cue cannot be loaded (eg because an audio file has been moved or deleted) then the cue is now included in the cues displayed in the cue panels. Previously it would have been omitted. The reason for the error is displayed in the cue panel.
  • Fixed: SCS-Lite users would encounter a 'gadget not set' crash when trying to edit Production Properties.
  • Fixed: Trying to select 'MIDI In' in the Production Properties 'Cue Control Devices' would crash if no MIDI devices were found.
  • Fixed: If an audio file cue's device levels were all set to -INF and if there was no associated level change cue then a subscript error would occur.
  • Fixed: MIDI control of cues failed with 'thread assertion failed'.
  • Fixed: Various issues with sending RS232 commands.
  • Fixed: 'Complete' any associated auto-start cues was overlooked on reading a cue file.
  • Fixed: Start a video cue while another video cue was still running would fail.
  • Fixed: When a video cue is playing then clicking further down the cue list could cause the progress slider of the playing video cue to freeze, even though the video itself keeps playing.
  • Fixed: Some issues with Level Change cues operating on Video cues.

An SCS 10 feature that is not currently available in SCS 11 is the ability to fade videos. In SCS 10 this was implemented using the xVideo library, but that library is not compatible with SCS 11. A newer version of the xVideo library has been trialed with SCS 11 and this version is compatible. However, the newer version currently lacks a couple of necessary features. The xVideo developer has told me that these features will be added to the next release which he expects to release later this month (September 2012).
