Samplerate

Post by lttton » Wed Jun 27, 2012 8:03 pm

Hello there,

since we use the SCS.9 Release (with Device Mapper) funny things occure.

SCS itself is set to a Samplerate of 44100, our Audio Device (Gigaport-HD) will be set automaticly to 48000 when SCS starts. (??)
We have multple Audio-Files in our Show in different Formats (MP3; AIFF and WAV) but all with Samplerate at 44100 und 16Bit.
Only one File is a video-File with a Audio-Samplerate at 48000/16Bit.

Some files play properly, some to fast. If we set the Audio-Device`s Samplerate manually to 41000 most of the Files play properly but some too slow??
In fact the video plays always properly, and most of the MP3's.

I'm unable to figure out, whats going on there.

Any Idea?
Greetings from Tuebingen,
Uwe

Seems strange. I've emailed you details of a tracing version to run so I can find out what settings are applied when initializing the device.

The trace files you have sent me indicate that everything should be running at 44100. Try removing the video file - remove the video cue and 'save as' a different cue file name. Then close and restart SCS, making sure the Gigaport sample rate is set to 44100 before restarting SCS. SCS should now open the new cue file, ie the cue file without the video cue. How does this now run the audio file cues?

If audio files now run OK then it would appear that the 48K video file is causing the Gigaport sample rate change. If possible, convert the video file to 44100. If not, then try setting the SCS sample rate to 48000. I suggest you close and restart SCS to make sure the new sample rate is applied.

Can anyone else with Gigaport assist with this issue?

Setting SCS to 48k solves the problem...but
The Gigaport HD is limited to 6 outputs if its working in 48k or 24Bit and to 4 Outputs when working in 48k and 24Bit.
Not a problem for this Production, but sometimes we need all 8 Outputs. I'll give it a try to change the samplerate of the video-file and post the results.
