Linked Audio File Cue/Sub Cue Problem

Post by Dannyboy » Wed Oct 23, 2013 8:28 pm

Hi All

I updated my laptop and Theatre PC to SCS 11.2.3 a while back, and have just started to plot my first show with it.

I have 2 Audio devices set up: 1 - Front of House, 2 Seating Block.

When I add an audio file cue I can send audio to both devices no problem. The sound is coming through the speakers fine.

When I link an audio File Cue to another, or add a audio file sub cue to another file I can only play the audio through device 1 - FOH. I have the same problem on both Laptop and PC.

This is giving me a little headache. If anyone can give any advice that would be great. I have a corporate licence and updated our cluster to this version a while back, having to roll them back may make me unpopular with our IT department!

All the best

Danny

I suggest you download and install 11.2.4 and if you still have this problem then please email me a diagnostic dump file. You can create this file by starting SCS (11.2.4) and selecting 'Create Diagnostic Dump File' from the drop-down menu displayed when you click the Help button in the main window. The file will be saved in a folder named "SCS Dumps" under "Documents" or "My Documents".

btw, I've checked our registration database and see that your 'update plan' expired only a few days ago, so you can still download 11.2.4, but you may need to go to the download archive.

Hi Mike

thanks for this. I'll give this a go and get back to you. After further playing around I seem to be having problems changing levels of Linked files/subs cues as well, nothing happens, like no cue has been programmed. Also previewing level changes takes no notice of 'start playing at xxx seconds'.... Always starts the preview of the start of the file when you click test level.

I've had very little problems before. Hopefully this won't be a major issue.

All the best

Danny

Danny,

Thanks for the dump file. The problem with cues 1 and 2 is due to the fact that Cue 1 <1> and Cue 1 <2> are linked - which, of course, they should be in your case. However, linked files are all set to start, pause and stop together. The SFR sub-cue Cue 2 <1> is set to fade out and stop Cue 1 <1> but because Cue 1 <2> is linked to Cue 1 <1>, the SFR sub-cue also acts on Cue 1 <2>. Since that cue has a level of -INF at the time of activating the SFR sub-cue, SCS stopped Cue 1 <2> immediately.

The solution is to replace the SFR sub-cue with a Level Change sub-cue, set to fade out Cue 1 <1> over 10 seconds - and I suggest you also remove the 10-second fade-out currently specified in Cue 1 <1>.

Cue 3 should remain as is, ie as an SFR cue.

Regarding the other issues, including SCS ignoring 'start playing at xxx seconds' in Level Change tests, I've now fixed those issues and emailed you a link to a new version to try.
