[Fix 11.2.4] Device changes not implemented

Post by jmgordon » Sat Aug 31, 2013 6:27 am

I seem to have created a problem for myself with some recent computer housekeeping (or possibly a Windows update).

On my WS7 64bit laptop, for one series of shows I have two device maps, one called VAIO which uses the default internal speakers (or speakers connected to the headphone socket) for editing and one called VAIO Optical which utilises the optical out in the same socket, for the show. I usually switch between the two in the usual way, selecting "Apply Device Changes" before continuing.

Having not used SCS for a few weeks I now find that, on opening a cue file saved with the VAIO Optical device map and changing to VAIO (the default), "Apply Device Changes" is highlighted but clicking it is not accepted and attempting to move to a cue or close the Editor is met with "You have unapplied device changes. Please Apply or Undo your device changes." One can only exit by clicking the main window. Creating a new cue file doesn't seem to have the same problem, but resaving an existing file with a new name doesn't solve it.

I am using SCS 11.2.2; reverting to 11.0.0 (which works) and stepping forward I find that it is with 11.2.1 RC1 (which previously worked fine) that the problem appears (is that when default device manager detection was introduced?). In recent days there has been a Windows Update or two, and an iTunes update, and my son and I this week did a registry clean-up (to try to solve a different problem) using CCleaner. Presumably something has been corrupted or deleted. What should I look for?

You aren't alone in this. I had it with 11.22.3 - no computer housekeeping. I tried to make changes to the device map and when I clicked Apply and tried to move on I was told I still had to apply the changes. Not being able to remember the state before the change made it tricky to move on!! Sometimes a Cancel button would be useful!! Anyway closed SCS, reopened and tried again and it worked.
