Hi,
This is probably a stupid question, but is there any easy way that I can use a hot key (note) to loop a cue, then allow that cue to release from the loop and play out when the hot key is released? Clearly I could do with with two cues, one to trigger and one to "release from loop" but I would rather have a single key to do this.
Possible uses would be cues such as bells that can run for different times, but have reverberation so sound strange if they are just cut off!
Thanks,
Rob

Re: Looping a cue whilst a hot key is pressed?
Interesting idea, but with the way Note Hotkeys are implemented you will need to use 2 cues (as you suggest) or use 1 cue and set the fade-out time to avoid the cue being cut off.
Re: Looping a cue whilst a hot key is pressed?
There is a way to do this is by creating three cues, activated by one key; slightly cumbersome and it works only once.
Create your (say) Bell cue, Q1, including the desired loop points with continuous looping and the required play out time. Set the activation to Hot Key (Note).
Copy and paste to make a duplicate cue, Q2, which will have the identical loop points. Set Q2 to auto activation 0.0 secs after the start of Q1.
Shorten the end time of Q1 to just beyond the end loop point. The two cues should loop in sync, but changing the file length should avoid SCS treating them as linked files. If they are linked, the cue panel will show "linked" and Q2 will stop at the same time as Q1. If necessary juggle the end times until linking does not take place.
Create an SFR cue, Q3, the cue to be actioned Q2, the action Release from loop and play to end point, the activation auto-start 0.0 secs after the end of Q1.
When you press the hotkey Q1 and Q2 will start. On releasing Q1 will stop and Q2 will continue. However, Q2 will then be affected by Q3 starting, which will release it from the loop and allow it to play to the end.
As the files are not linked, Q1 and Q2 may get slightly out of sync after many iterations, but may not be noticeable depending on the effect.
The problem is that, although a hot key cue can be activated at any time, Q3 will be marked as completed when it has run, and won't be available to release the loop on subsequent occasions. I haven't thought of an automatic way to reactivate it yet.
