Show Cue System

Had a funny tonight.

Two weeks into a three week run, using a Lenovo laptop with external USB interface for playback, the use of a right click for a manual cue became intermittent on the third cue of the second act. Luckily it was a particularly time-critical cue and starting with the space bar a second late didn't matter but it was concerning. For the rest of the act I used the space bar for anything critical but tried to right click any time a slight delay wouldn't matter. Right click worked about 50% of the time.

After the show I closed and restarted SCS and haven't been able to recreate the failure--I've worked through the entire show (at speed) several times without a glitch. I don't think it's the right click button itself--it's working normally, both on the SCS test I noted above but also for all the usual Windows commands.

FYI, I have a "show mode" for the laptop with a clean boot and nothing unnecessary running in background.

Not a biggie as it worked out but I prefer the right click for my manual cues. Just the way the laptop is laid out, I can rest my thumb just beside the button to be ready where I have to be careful with what's around the spacebar.

Anybody heard of this before or have any suggestions?

Which version of SCS are you using? There used to be an issue that if the mouse pointer was over window title bar or a scrollbar, then the right-click would not be recognized. However, that issue was fixed in SCS 11.3.0.

Sorry, I should have said but it was late last night and I was very tired...worst bug report I've ever done.

Anyway, I'm on 11.4.2.3. Bulld 2016 03 07.

Did you notice where the mouse pointer was when the right-click was not actioned?

No...I was too busy finding the Space Bar. However, if it happens again I'll be sure to note the cursor position.

FYI, I just tried to recreate the problem by putting the cursor on the scroll bar and/or Windows title bar and couldn't make it go wrong though.

Tomorrow is another dark night so I'll try running the whole show a few times and see if I can recreate the problem by moving the cursor or whatever and let you know.

Just to keep you updated, back in the theatre today and SCS was flawless as usual. Right click worked every time. FYI, just in case it was significant, I kept the cursor on the black area around the meter display though that didn't seem to be the cause of problems in other experiments.

I'll keep an eye on it for the rest of the run but, otherwise, put it down as "one of those things".
