Show Cue System

I've been using SCS for a few years and I'm a huge fan but it's not working too well with my new EMU 1616M soundcard on my laptop.

There are two problems: Firstly the sound often breaks up into crackles and distortion. This seems to happen gradually, starting fine then suddenly starting to crackle on a cue and get worse the more simultaneous cues are running. The audio quality is fine if I use the internal soundcard in the laptop and other applications work very well with my EMU card.

I have tried both checking and unchecking the option "Do NOT use floating point for audio channels" in SCS options, but neither option helps.

Secondly, although the EMU card has multiple outputs and I can use the EMU Patchmix application to define real and virtual channels, these are not available to use in SCS. If I select physical device E-DSP Wave [FECO] I can't select any speakers except the default pair.

Anybody have any advice?

A couple of questions:
1. Which version of SCS are you using?
2. What sample rate do you have selected? If it is 44.1 try switching to 48, and if it is 48 try switching to 44.1.

From a quick look at the EMU web site I think the virtual channels are only available with ASIO, which SCS 9 doesn't support. I'll email you more about this.

Thanks Mike. Good idea to try the different sample rate - I'll do that later today. I am currently using 9.5.1

The EMU card has a bit of software called Patchmix in which the user creates a virtual mixer with channels that are then routed to the physical inputs and outputs. You can actually create Windows 'wave' channels and ASIO channels independently, so I thought it should be possible to use multiple channels in SCS. But perhaps the extra layer of EMU Patchmix software between SCS and the driver makes life difficult. Hopefully ASIO support in SCS 10 will make a difference.
