[In 11.4.2] Stem mixes and loops (ie unlinked audio files)

Hi - I have a question - perhaps for you Mike . . .

I use SCS to run the sound for live concerts - so far with backing tracks, lighting control midi files and sundry midi commands - patch changes, mix changes etc. Quite a few songs use loops for free solos, audience participation sections, extended intros etc.

Our shows are getting bigger (which is a good thing) and the time has come to use a sound man to do live mixes of our backing tracks using stem mixes - at the moment I preview 8 parallel audio streams (Bass drum, snare, drums/percussion, keys, guitars, BVs, brass, bass) and evidently I need these to be timed perfectly. Using linked audio files seems to work just fine - all tracks are playing to the same ASIO multi-channel device and I guess this is essential. I also presume that linked audio files really are LOCKED together in time (as that is what they are for).

The problem is how to deal with the loops as this forces the audio files to be unlinked. I have done an experiment inserting identical loops into all 8 tracks and then releasing the loops simultaneously and it seems to work . . . but the BIG question is can I rely on this???
