What an excellent product

I just wanted to say thank you for the development of this software. The group I am work with as the technical lead has just finished a run of of "Once On Chunuk Bair", (In Carterton, Wairarapa, New Zealand) and the showcuesystem enabled us to provide to the direct the complete sound requirements they were after. The integration with Lightfactory (Sound Cues triggered by Lightfactory) worked smoothly allowing us to have correctly synced, explosion and lighting effects, as well as providing an overall ambient noise to provide the trench warfare experience . We also used the video capabilities

The new operator had no problems using the software during the production

The only problems I had were completely down to myself and the crew and a projector that went in to standby mode at completely the wrong time.

This does mean that the directors in the group will now be wanting to push the levels higher for the next production, but I don't think we have got anyway near the edge of the capabilities of the software yet.

Many thanks again

David

Thanks for your comments, Dave. Could you give me some info on how you implemented the integration with LightFactory? If you email me an SCS diagnostic file that should give me the info I need. You can create this file by selecting 'Create Diagnostic File' from the drop-down menu displayed when you click the Help button in the main window. The file will be saved in a folder named "SCS Diagnostics" under "Documents" or "My Documents".

No problem, I will get the diagnostic file to you, (And I am sure you can tell me how to improve the setup) but in summary.

SCS 11.4 was setup to listen for telnet connections (Telnet server) from LightFactory (The group hasn't paid enough to have Lightfactory maintain connections from Third Party applications, we have an LF50 license) .

Most of the show is sound effects so we had an operator on the SCS machine, Light factory was running some long overtime lighting changes , with some short cuts to control the DMX enabled smoke machines.

For a particular part of the play we had to ensure that the light change and the sound happened at the correct times. Lightfactory can do audio but SCS was giving us more control of the sound so I set up light factory with the following macro assigned to a shortcut

connect <ip address of SCS system>
send scsGo("Q201")
disconnection <ip address of the SCS system>

Then the cues were set up in Lightfactory to tigger the sound effect, wait 5 seconds and then trigger the explosion light effect.

Next time I will looking to link the software even more, possibly upgrading the lightfactory license in order to control it the other way.

Lightfactory: Windows 7 laptop
SCS 11.4: Windows 8.1 Desktop
Connection over a private Ethernet switch

It worked nicely out of the box that, I really didn't think much about

Cheers

David
