Volume Fader in Design Mode

Is it possible, I feel like this worked in a previous version, that when in Design Mode when I change the volume while the cue is playing it doesn't revert back to its original setting? As it stands, as soon as the cue completes, or I stop it, it will go back to the original level. It might be a setting I've missed, please excuse my ignorance.

Thanks so much!

Currently I'm running on 11.8.8 with Windows 7 Pro.

Does 'Save Settings' in the toolbar provide what you want?

Yes, that's it! Is it possible to have it default to save changes made while in Design Mode?

Yes, I could add an Editing Option to provide this.

Hi Mike,

I have similar concerns to StephenG, but I'm not sure I want it to automatically save changes (unless you also add an Undo capability!).

Here are my observations (in 11.4.0.2):
If I adjust the level of a cue in the cue list and let the cue finish playing, I get the option to save the changes under the "Save Settings" button, which is good, HOWEVER:
- If I adjust the level of a cue and hit Stop before the cue has finished, the level fader reverts to its original level and the "Save Settings" option for that cue disappears.
- After I let the cue finish playing and the "Save Settings" option is showing, if I go back to that cue or any cue before it the "Save Settings" option disappears.
- If I close SCS it doesn't ask me if I want to save any pending level changes - the changes are lost.

All of the above makes sense for someone who wants to make level changes on-the-fly during a performance; they would want the levels to revert to their original preset values each time the cue restarts, and they wouldn't want to save the changes when they close SCS at the end of the show.

In our case, we want to allow the sound operator to make level changes during rehearsals, but we don't let him/her use the editor (we have different operators for each show and don't have time to teach them all how to use the editor).
We need those cue list level/pan changes to be more "sticky", meaning that we don't want to lose the changes if we stop a cue (the director yells "Stop! Let me hear that cue again!"), or if we navigate back to the cue ("Let's run that scene again!"). If the operator tries to exit SCS without saving their changes we want them to get the "Save changes?" dialog, just as they would if the changes had been made in the editor window.

So, I think a Design/Performance mode option to make the cue list level changes "sticky", would be useful, but as I said earlier I'm not sure if auto-saving is the right thing to do, as there wouldn't be a way to revert to the previous level if we didn't want to keep a level change.

An additional suggestion would be to add an option to the "Save Settings" drop-down menu called "Reset Level/Pan for all above cues". This would complement the existing "Reset Master Fader Setting" option, and would give us a way to reset any accidental/unwanted cue level changes.

These are just suggestions, of course... you may have a much more elegant solution :)

Thanks,
Tim A.

I think Tim A. (BritGeek) has a good idea. A "Save Changes" dialogue popping up before closing the program would be very helpful.
