pan not working in 10.8.4?

Post by MizeSoundGuy » Mon Sep 26, 2011 11:05 am

I just downloaded and installed the latest version (10.8.4) but had to roll back to 10.6.1 because I discovered (after creating a show) that pannng an individual audio cue had no effect. Stereo cues come out stereo and properly oriented but I cannot position a cue right or left. I opened a previously run show and panning did not work. I uninstalled and reinstalled 10.6.1 and recreated my cuelist and panning worked fine so it's not the hardware.

Any suggestions on what to do?

Thanks

Have a look at the Audio Driver Options in SCS. Are you using the 'internal mixer' in 10.6.1? If so, then re-install 10.8.4 and see if this setting has changed to 'do not use internal mxier'. If it has then set it back to 'use internal mixer', then click OK and close and restart SCS. You should find your pans now work.

The background to this is the internal mixer (= BASS mixer) was added to provide support for a few features not otherwise available, and that includes panning when speaker outputs other than the default outputs are selected. However, a number of users encountered playback problems with the internal mixer, so at 10.7.5 I changed the default option to 'do not use internal mixer', which is why your setting may have changed between 10.6.1 and 10.8.4.

Let me know if this helps, but if you still have a panning issue please email me your cue file (the .scs or .scsq file) and tell me which cue is not panning.

Wow, that was fast.
I have the show 99% ready to go in 10.6 so it'll be a few days before I can try. Preview night is Thursday and one should never touch a running system.
Thanks -- I'll be back.
