restart telnet connection

dear all

i am trying to use scs telnet feature to control my DIY lighting desk. I gave it a telnet server.
I noticed the following. SCS sets up its telnet connection when it first starts en uses that connections throughout the show. However, when the server dies (the lighting desk has in issue e.g.) SCS logically loses its connection. I have to restart SCS to reinstate the connection and that is not exactly what you want to do during a show :-). So my question is, is there a solution for this. Can i make SCS reconnect without restarting?

(i can fix it with some extra software on the machine SCS is running on by using a kind of relay telnet server on it. This one would listen on the localhost to SCS and send out the commands to my lighting desk. The relay server can have a restart connection feature without disturbing its connection with SCS. However i kind off hope there is a 'native SCS' solution that i overlooked)

regards,

wim

Not currently. Why is your telnet server dying?

dear mike,

normally it is not dying. It's only that during test en development it was not always stable so i notice the issue.
Restarting the light desk (highly unwanted) forces me to restart SCS also (more highly unwanted). Don't worry i'll survive.
Maybe i'll write the intermediate thing one day.

by the way: ever considere implementing osc (open sound control) messages for remote control. These things are really cool

Thank you for developping SCS I love it!

wim
