I am currently in the process of re-equiping our main theatre within the college, I have looked at various mixers and looked closely at the Midas Venicef which is now equiped with a firewire interface. I wondered if anyone else has tried using SCS interfaced to this mixer and if it allows SCS to use the interface to eliminate the need for a standalone firewire device.

It looks possible that you can avoid having to use an intermediate sound interface. I've just sent an email to Midas seeking confirmation, and will update this topic when I receive a reply.

Midas have confirmed that the VeniceF uses a standard ASIO driver and can be used as an external sound card.

Although SCS alone supports ASIO, I suggest you consider including a SoundMan-Server (SM-S) license in your budget. SM-S provides high quality ASIO output with sample-accurate syncing of linked files. See the SCS Forum topic SM-S Licensing and SCS for more information. Note that you can purchase an SM-S license from us at a discounted price.
