burps when using fade in on resume

Cue sequence was to start a song. then sm call to fade song and hold it. then it is to resume the song and by fading in where it left off.
cue 1. starts song
cue 2. fades cue 1 and hibernates.
cue 3. resumes cue 1 with fade in
what happens when I do this is it plays the first 10th of a second or so of the resume point at full level then starts fade in
so I tried this
cue 1. starts song at begining
cue 2. fades song and stops
cue 3. starts song again but 1 minute into song
same result it plays a blip at full volume then starts the fade in.
at first I thought it was a buffer problem with the sound card and it was playing the last bit a few milliseconds of the last cue but I tried using other sounds and confirmed that the initial burp or noise is the beginning of the cue starting at full level before it starts a fade in.
set up is
core duo intel
4gb ram
win 7
nvidia bios
echo gina 96/24 audio in this case using 1/2 and 3/4 analog out
what is odd is that I can't duplicate the prob from my older home system running XP
end solution was to edit a new track for cue 3 starting the song a minute in with the fade in built into the track works but would be better if SCS would handle the fade in itself.
