Show Cue System

Can anyone suggest a USB2 soundcard with 8 balanced outputs that will work with SCS?
I’ve looked at the M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R but it has 8 inputs that I don’t require and also it has a knob on the front that controls the level of output channel 1&2 and hence open to fiddle factor! and a power button!

Further to the above, has anyone tried the ESI ESU1808 with SCS??

Hi Boswell . . . I haven't actually tried the 1808 but I've had some experiences with ESI and they're not good ones. I found the support from ESI was particularly bad both from ESI themselves and the Australian importer. A pity because the price is pretty good.

If you can get your hands on one then the Edirol UA-101 is a real winner as far as I'm concerned . . . been using a couple for two or three years now and they have proved (touch wood) faultless.

thanks martin, I've had a look at that as you have suggested, it seems to get good reports and no complaints about faulty drivers, unlike the other 2 I looked at.
It is now called "Cakewalk UA-101" but is the same beast as yours. Several places in the UK have it in stock so now it's just convince the bean counters that I can get one

Got the Roland Cakewalk UA-101 past the bean counters at £340 delivered including taxes.
We will be using 8 audio outputs and the midi out from the UA-101 (no video)
Has anyone tried the UA-101 on a computer with the following spec?
Intel Atom 330
4GB RAM
NVIDIA ION
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
No networking, no other programmes installed. (apart from SCS!)

I'm attracted to this because it is almost silent and our sound desk is in the auditorium but I'm not sure it will be fast enough to handle 8 audio outs (4 stereo) over the USB.

Good news that you got the go ahead for the UA-101 Boswell.

I've been using the UA-101 on computers far less spec'd than yours and it's run unfalteringly (is that really a word?). All of my productions have been with 8 audio outputs and a continuous MIDI file.
